Eco Driving Training

Teach your operators to cut costs and carbon emissions.

Upskill your drivers so they learn how to drive more efficiently and safely through our exclusive Kalmar Eco Driving Training program.

Whether at one of our training centres or conveniently at your own premises, our comprehensive course will help to:

  • Reduce your machines’ fuel consumption by up to 20%
  • Reduce wear and tear on key components
  • Reduce your operating costs
  • Reduce your carbon emissions
  • Reduce machine noise levels and vibrations
  • Improve safety
  • Improve your operators’ cabin experience.

Training courses are available for reachstackers, empty container handlers and forklifts operators.

You can register your interest by clicking a button in the bottom of the page.

Kalmar’s Eco Driving Training course focuses on 4 key areas that will help your drivers improve operating efficiency while cutting costs and carbon emissions:

1. Acceleration & deceleration

Your drivers will be trained to smooth out their driving by knowing how to avoid excessive acceleration and deceleration. By learning how to drive smoothly, less fuel will be consumed, costs and emissions will be reduced, and your driver will experience less stress and strain on their bodies.

2. Engine speed

Running your engine at top speed doesn’t mean your drivers will be more efficient, in many cases it’s the exact opposite. Knowing how to use Eco or Normal Mode while operating your machine can significantly reduce fuel consumption, component wear and tear, costs, and carbon emissions. And make the cabin a more comfortable place, so your drivers can maintain the highest levels of productivity.

3. Route choice

By planning each journey and understanding the impact that narrow corridors and excessive turning can have on the wear and tear of key components, drivers and management can work together to optimise each move, making them as cost effective as possible.

4. Idling

Idling your engine for more than 10 seconds uses more fuel and produces more carbon emissions than using stop start engine technology. Drivers will learn how to use the automatic engine shutdown and manage cabin heating systems to reduce idling, experiencing the benefits first hand during training.

A tip for free:

Make sure your drivers complete their daily checks so your machine is running optimally at all times, especially their tyre pressure, as incorrect tyre pressure can cause higher than usual fuel consumption – up to 10% higher.

Good for the business, good for the environment

By teaching your drivers to be more eco-efficient in their driving behaviours, you can reduce fuel consumption and key component wear and tear, reducing carbon emissions and helping to make our natural resources last longer.  Noise and vibrations from your machine can also be significantly reduced, which is good for your driver, your staff, and the area around your business.

Invest in your people

By investing in your drivers and teaching them new skills, you can help them become safer, more efficient, happier drivers which will help your business become more efficient, more sustainable and be seen as a great place to work.
