Kalmar partners with DP World to support safe, efficient operations at new Posorja terminal in Ecuador

2019 Trade press
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, is pleased to announce a further extension of its collaboration with world-leading global terminal operator DP World. A new fleet of Kalmar mobile equipment - 33 terminal tractors, three empty container handlers, three reachstackers and one forklift - will ensure safe and efficient operations at DP World's new deep-water port at Posorja in Ecuador. The order was booked in Cargotec's 2018 Q4 order intake, with delivery scheduled to begin during Q2 of 2019.
Kalmar has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with DP World, a leading global operator of marine and inland terminals. The Posorja terminal is the first deep-water port in Ecuador and it is currently in its first phase of development. Once this phase is complete the terminal will feature a 480-metre berth and have an annual capacity of 750,000 TEU.
The new Kalmar mobile equipment will also be connected to the Kalmar Insight performance management and optimisation tool, which will provide personnel at DP World Posorja with a real-time view of the terminal's productivity and performance. The tool aggregates operational business data from the equipment fleet, Terminal Operating System (TOS) and maintenance management systems.
Jorge Velásquez, General Manager, DP World Posorja: "We want to ensure safe and efficient operations from day one, and we firmly believe that working with Kalmar will help us to achieve this goal. DP World has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Kalmar over the years, so it was natural that we turned to them to help us put our plans into action at the Posorja terminal."
Marcelo Massa, Solution Sales Manager, Kalmar: "We are delighted that DP World Posorja has selected Kalmar equipment and services for their new terminal in Ecuador. I am confident that with this new fleet which has the latest technology, together with Kalmar Insight, DP World Posorja in Ecuador will be able to maximise the efficiency of their terminal and achieve a high level of productivity."
